Online Counselling for Gay Men Across Australia

Talk with a therapist who understands gay life without making you explain the basics first.

You may be dealing with anxiety, shame, relationships, loneliness or the pressure to appear completely fine. You may know something needs to change without knowing how to begin talking about it.

Josh Feeney is a PACFA-registered counsellor and psychotherapist who works with gay men and LGBTQ+ adults across Australia. Sessions are available online nationwide and in person in Surry Hills, Sydney.

Therapy Where You Can Get Straight to the Real Conversation

You should not have to spend therapy explaining coming out, chosen family, gay dating culture, minority stress or why you behave differently in different spaces.

Josh has spent more than a decade organising, participating in and contributing to Australia’s queer community. He understands that being gay is not the problem to solve, yet it can shape how you experience family, work, relationships, safety and yourself.

What Can Counselling for Gay Men Help With?

  • Anxiety, overthinking or pressure to perform

  • Low self-worth and never feeling good enough

  • Shame connected with sexuality, identity, body image or sex

  • Dating, intimacy, trust and relationship difficulties

  • Loneliness or feeling disconnected from gay community

  • Coming out or being out in some parts of life but not others

  • Family rejection, religious shame or difficult family relationships

  • Burnout from hiding, adapting or constantly assessing whether a space is safe

  • Life changes, grief or feeling unsure about what comes next

You do not need to be in crisis or have a polished explanation. If something keeps following you into your relationships, work or time alone, counselling gives you somewhere to look at it honestly.

Meet Josh, Online Across Australia and In Person in Sydney

Josh is warm, direct and easy to talk to. He will not treat your identity as a diagnosis, offer empty affirmations or assume every gay man has the same experience.

Sessions are shaped around what you want help with. Together, you can explore patterns, beliefs, past experiences and how your body responds under pressure. The goal is to help you understand yourself more clearly, make choices that feel like your own and build relationships where you do not need to edit who you are.

Josh holds a Master of Counselling and Psychotherapy and is a Certified Practising Counsellor with PACFA, registration number 28807.

Meet with Josh online from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Canberra, Hobart, Darwin or regional Australia. In-person appointments are also available in Surry Hills, Sydney.

Sessions run for 50 minutes and cost $160. No GP referral or Mental Health Treatment Plan is required.

Start With a Free 15-Minute Call

Finding a gay therapist who feels right can take time. The free intro call lets you meet Josh, ask questions and briefly explain what you want support with before booking a full session.

There is no pressure to continue. If the fit does not feel right, Josh can help you consider another practitioner or referral where possible.
